time to breathe
2007-01-03 | 9:48 p.m.

There is never, I repeat never enough vacation time.

Not that I didn't have a good break. I saw my family, all of my friends back home. Had a couple of nice dinners out, coffee runs, shopping days, went to a show at the Second City, and had about one day to do absolutely nothing before heading back here for New Years.

New Years ... dinner at the best damn Chinese restaurant I've ever been to in my life. (Le Gourmet Hot and Spicy - if you're ever looking for good Chinese in Montreal, now you know where to go.)

After two weeks at home getting caught up with everyone there, and then a weekend spent almost entirely with Marc, I now have a couple of days to do my own thing, which I am guarding jealously. No one, but no one, is allowed to make any demands of me or my time until classes start up again on Friday. I am using this time to write (finally going to finish that novel draft I meant to have done by June!), to put pictures in my album, to watch actual full-length movies, to read whole books from start to finish, to clean my apartment and put away my Christmas decorations, and to run errands.

I did a little bit of shopping today. Last time for the holiday break, I swear. But my, oh my, how I do love the La Vie en Rose outlet store downtown. If I had any remotely plausible rationalization for buying a half-dozen slutty nighties, I'd have done it today. Big sale! Cute, impractical sleepwear for rock-bottom prices!

Does only buying two count as being good? I'm going to tell myself that it does.

Anyway, enough procrastination. Back to the book. Soon it will be finished! Huzzah!
